Job Description
* Directorate: Children & Young People Services.
* Position types: Two part‑time Band G Senior Family Support Workers (22.2 hours each) on a permanent basis within the Wingfield and Oakwood Team and Wath and Swinton Team, and two full‑time Band G Senior Family Support Workers on a permanent basis within the Dolton and Thrybergh teams.
The Early Help & Family Engagement Service provides practical help and advice to support families and their children to achieve their full potential. The service delivers support as problems begin to emerge to prevent issues from getting worse, reducing the need for higher level statutory interventions.
Responsibilities
* Engage with children and families in a range of settings (home visits, schools, group based or community based settings) and promote positive change.
* Complete Early Help Assessments and embed the tool in practice as a consent‑driven, multi‑agency early intervention support mechanism.
* Build and maintain relationships with professionals from a range of agencies and plan support for children and families.
* Work within a safeguarding environment and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
* Motivate colleagues, children and families, helping others to help themselves through practical experience and one‑to‑one support to find solutions for issues that affect family functioning.
* Apply professional boundaries within the supportive relationship and recognise the risk of creating dependency.
