Principal Engineer (Structures)12-month initial contract | Outside IR35Hybrid working, office in DorsetWe're looking for an experienced Chartered Engineer (ICE/IStructE) to support the design, assessment, and delivery of bridge and highway structure projects.Key Responsibilities
* Assist with scheme preparation, technical assessments, and information gathering.
* Produce or support structural designs and contract documents.
* Liaise with contractors, utilities, and other stakeholders.
* Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, sustainability, and compliance.
Required Experience
* Chartered Engineer + RQF Level 4-7 in a relevant engineering field.
* Strong background in bridge/highway structure design (BS, DMRB, Eurocodes).
* Proficient with FE/Grillage software (e.g., LUSAS, ENCAD).
* Experience delivering and supervising structural projects.
* Able to carry out bridge inspections to IMHS standards.
* Working knowledge of CDM 2015.
* Confident communicator and able to oversee junior team members.
Working Conditions
* Hybrid working with occasional site visits.
* Regular stakeholder communication in a dynamic environment.
* Ability to travel as required.
