As a Technician Trainer, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality training and practical support to learners at all levels. You'll work closely with lecturing staff, guiding students through their practical activities, developing their confidence, and ensuring a safe, well‑organised workshop environment.
Responsibilities
* Providing practical training, coaching and underpinning knowledge to learners on plumbing programmes.
* Assessing student competence and supporting progress through tutorials, workshops and practical observations.
* Supervising students in the workshop, ensuring safe and effective learning at all times.
* Maintaining tools, equipment and stock levels, organising stores, and undertaking minor repairs where needed.
* Supporting the delivery of accredited programmes and assisting lecturing staff during practical sessions.
* Keeping workshop spaces clean, safe and well organised, and completing relevant administration.
* Participating in risk assessments, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety (including COSHH).
* Supporting learners and colleagues with specialist equipment and First Aid (training provided).
Qualifications
* Level 2 qualification in a relevant plumbing discipline.
* GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
* Experience working in the plumbing industry.
* Strong communication skills and confidence supporting young people.
* Excellent organisation, record‑keeping and problem‑solving skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusive learning.
* Ability to work flexibly, independently and as part of a team.
* Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable Qualifications
* Level 3 plumbing qualification.
* Experience teaching, training or mentoring others.
* Experience supervising students or apprentices.
* Minor maintenance experience.
* Good plumbing practical skills.
