JOB BAND: E
CONTRACT TYPE: 12 Fixed-term Contract (Maternity cover).
DEPARTMENT: Group Strategy and Transformation.
LOCATION: London, Broadcasting House with some Hybrid working.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £65,000 - £70,000 plus London Weighting £5,441pa, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Chief Operating Officer Group (COO) are exploring how Generative AI can improve the way we work.
The primary focus of this role is to develop, oversee, and drive AI-related initiatives that simplify operations and improve effectiveness and efficiency. It will work closely with the GenAI Programme Team and frontline staff in COO and Corporate Functions to better support the BBC's public purposes.
Lead Business Improvement Managers are typically deployed to oversee and lead on the delivery of continuous improvement (CI) projects across the BBC.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
The GenAI Programme team plays a central role helping the BBC make the most of GenAI to deliver value. We are a nimble, forward-thinking team focused on helping the BBC accelerate adoption of GenAI and supporting the delivery of high impact use-cases. You'll work closely with senior leaders in the COO Group to shape and support the delivery of GenAI initiatives that improve how the BBC's corporate functions operate.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
As Lead Business Improvement Manager you will:
* Drive Gen AI initiatives within the COO Group to unlock business value through responsible AI adoption.
* Lead and deliver AI-related projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational efficiency.
* Simplify and standardise processes, focusing on reducing bureaucracy and enhancing productivity.
* Collaborate with senior leaders to identify high-impact GenAI use cases and recommend scalable solutions.
* Scope project requirements, manage risks, and resolve blockers to ensure successful delivery.
* Prioritise use cases based on value, feasibility, and cost, and oversee pilots through to implementation.
* Communicate insights clearly, producing stakeholder-ready reports and maintaining strong engagement across all levels.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Proven experience of leading significant projects in a relevant media sector, demonstrating strong organisational skills and success in managing projects through change.
* Expertise in workshop facilitation, idea development and deployment, supported by a solid understanding of organisational dynamics, processes, policies and methodologies for operational improvement.
* Demonstrable working understanding of AI/Generative AI within broadcasting/media sectors, including public-service obligations and best-practice market examples of delivering business value.
* Ability to structure, analyse and synthesise findings, and influence stakeholders with a clear point of view, supported with objective evidence.
* Strong report-writing, proofing and editing skills and practical experience with spreadsheets and powerpoint
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
* Knowledge and practical application of benefits management, from strategy to realisation.
* Credibility and impact with senior leaders, with the ability to influence and enable change through others.
* Experience coaching, mentoring, developing and motivating high-performing teams.
* Knowledge of operating and delivery models, and ability to apply analytical and operational frameworks to assess and solve business problems.
