This is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative post in the Cumbria region. This is also an opportunity to spearhead and contribute towards the development of Hope Haven, a mental health and wellbeing hub in the heart of Whitehaven and Copeland, a community partnership initiative between CNTW and several partner organisations.
There is also an opportunity to be part of developing ongoing changes within services in the region, such as The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM), a new venture between the University of Cumbria and Imperial College London. The aim is to produce doctors committed to delivering cutting-edge healthcare approaches and serving the needs of the Cumbria community.
This is a full-time post (10 PA) for a Consultant to provide medical input.

* Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis and formulation of patients referred to the CTT.
* Support the medical workforce on the west CTT.
* Be committed to delivering excellence in clinical care.
* Work effectively with the multidisciplinary community team and in-patient teams.
* Promote the safety and well-being of the patients we serve.
* Respect the rights and the dignity of patients.
* Consider the individual and cultural needs of patients.

Job responsibilities
This is a 10 PA post for a consultant psychiatrist to provide medical input into the community, covering Carlisle and Workington. It is an innovative post with the flexibility to develop a special interest in liaison, crisis, etc. The post holder will provide senior clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex mental health problems and what are termed as at-risk mental states.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
* Approved Clinician Status
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
* Has undergone training in educational supervision
* Has undergone training in appraisal
Knowledge
* Up-to-date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry
* Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
* An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working
* Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings
* Experience of Clinical Audit
* Experience in multiagency work, especially with service users, carers and voluntary agencies
* Experience in service management or development
Skills
* High level of clinical skills
* Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Adult Psychiatry
* Excellent teaching skills
* Demonstrate the ability to work in a time-efficient manner
* Established record of clinical leadership
* Established ability as a clinical teacher
* Training in specific and relevant treatment skills (eg a brief form of psychological therapy)
