We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Colchester, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Upper Key Stage 2 and committed to delivering high-quality teaching that prepares pupils for the transition to secondary school while fostering a love of learning.

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across all areas of the curriculum. You will be responsible for preparing pupils for statutory assessments (SATs) and for developing the skills, confidence, and independence they will need as they move to secondary education. Working closely with teaching assistants and colleagues, you will ensure all pupils receive tailored support to meet their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
* Prepare pupils for SATs and transition to secondary school
* Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners
* Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours
* Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
* Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, KS2 colleagues, and senior leaders
* Communicate regularly with parents and carers about pupil progress
* Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records
* Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives
* Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
* Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
* Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable
* Have a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing
* Work collaboratively as part of a professional team
