Salary: £90.00 - £110.00 per day (depending on payroll choice)

We’re looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision in Stoke on Trent. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning difficulties.

What you’ll be doing (Responsibilities)
* Supporting Students One-on-One or in Small Groups — assisting with subjects like English, Maths, and Functional Skills
* Managing Behaviour & Emotions — using de-escalation strategies, positive reinforcement, and restorative techniques
* Adapting Learning Materials — tailoring lessons to meet individual needs and learning styles
* Building Social and Emotional Skills — fostering resilience, confidence, and self-regulation
* Collaborating with Teachers and SENCOs — implementing individual plans and providing best support
Who we are looking for (Qualifications and Skills)
* Passion for working with students who have SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or other behavioural challenges
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students and staff
* Patience, resilience, and empathy
* Experience with behaviour management or child development is a bonus (training will be provided)
* Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one

A Day in the Life
Your day starts with a quick briefing on student needs, followed by academic and emotional support using visual aids, sensory tools, and structured routines. You’ll also participate in collaborative planning and progress reviews with the team.
