4146 - Rotational Specialist Occupational Therapist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6Rotational Specialist Occupational Therapist with a strong interest insupporting patients in their journey during an acute medical stay, throughrehabilitation and discharge to their own environment.
This post offers the opportunity to look at completingdevelopment to move from a band 5 to a band 6 via completing annex 21 training.
The post holder will have a broad range of specialistsskills that transfer across the patient pathway as the patient travels fromcare setting to setting.
The post holder will provide clinical expertise to themulti-disciplinary team to inform their decision making and to provide adviceand guidance to carers, non-clinical staff or members of other professions, whomay be influenced by this and to maintain professional relationships withrelevant others working as part of the wider team.
As part of the leadership team, the post holder must beflexible and dynamic and have a positive approach to enhancing service deliveryand implementing NHS Frameworks and Quality Guidelines.

Main duties of the job
The specialist Rotational Occupational Therapist will beexpected to:
To provide specialistadvice, for relatives, carers and members of the MDT, to promote the OT role inpatient care.
To advise patients, carers,relatives, colleagues on the safe use of equipment, minor adaptations,treatment techniques, moving and positioning, in relation to individualpatients.
To be competent inprescribing equipment, and have an in depth knowledge of equipment availablefor patients and how it is accessed. Ensure that all issued equipment is usedsafely and correctly, following protocols.
To accurately andeffectively report and document any changes in patients condition or progressto other relevant MDT team members.
To provide specialistwritten reports, discharge summaries, risk assessments and otherrecommendations regarding individual needs as required by the service.
To represent the OTservice and/or individual patients at MDT meetings, and case conferences toensure the delivery of a co-coordinated multidisciplinary service. This willinclude discussion of patient care and patient progress.
To work as anintegral part of the multidisciplinary team liaising and working with othertrust staff in the management of the patients appropriate to the medicalservice and with external agencies as required.
To oversee and managethe caseloads of more junior staff within a designated area.
The opportunity for the holder to spend time rotating across the different teams within the pathway.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Current Health Professions Council registration
* COT Accredited APPLE Clinical Fieldwork Educator qualification, or working towards
* Documented evidence of continuing professional development (CPD portfolio), post graduate study
* Member of British Association of Occupational Therapists
* Hold European Computer Driving Licence, or other IT intermediate skills
Personal Attributes
* Able to fulfil the physical demands of the role subject to reasonable adjustments under the terms of the Equality Act 2010
* Ability to work a flexible working patterns to cover 7 day working as service need dictates.
* A Current driving license and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability)
Other Factors
* Use of car and insurance for business use
Experience
* Post qualification experience (i.e. Band 5 junior grade rotation/static band 5 post), in a relevant fields
* Broad range of clinical experience in a variety of OT settings, e.g. must include NHS acute hospital setting
* Experience of clinical audit and research
Knowledge and Awareness
* Sound knowledge and application of current best practice in Occupational Therapy
* Sound working knowledge of Medical, Orthopaedic and Surgical conditions and the impact on occupational heath and function
* Demonstrates evidence of understanding and application of CPD requirements outlined by the HPC
* Understanding of current OT and where AHPs fit into the NHS Plan, or an ability to develop this
* Understanding of NHS direction
* Working knowledge of the use of the NHS KSF for performance appraisal
