The Role:
This position is part of our Sensor Systems Radar Business in Fareham. Saab UK is recruiting for various ILS roles requiring diverse backgrounds and skills. We offer an exciting opportunity for a Technical Author to work closely with a team, primarily responsible for producing and maintaining system technical manuals to recognized international standards. You will create high-quality technical publications for a broad range of equipment within the Defence sector.
Specifically, you will:
* Analyze, define, and create technical publications to military specifications.
* Be responsible for producing and maintaining customer-focused technical documentation.
* Create and update product data sheets, service bulletins, control documents, and drawings used in technical manuals.
* Generate and distribute Engineering Advice Notes in accordance with Saab quality standards.
* Assist with training sessions at Saab facilities, customer sites, and remotely via digital platforms.
* Be willing to undertake regular national and international travel.
* Collaborate with the Training and Product Information Team to design and develop training programs and assist in training new staff on Saab UK products.
* Provide accurate and concise progress reports upon request.
* Work within budget and adhere to pre-defined delivery schedules.
* Communicate effectively with customers, engineers, and SMEs to develop technical documentation.
* Stay updated with prevailing documentation standards and practices.
* Follow internal processes and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
* Proven experience in developing and producing technical documentation for electronic systems.
* Proficiency in single-source authoring software and familiarity with online learning authoring tools.
* Knowledge of the S1000D standard for technical publications.
* Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable:
* Experience with sensor or radar systems or similar.
* Holding a recognized training qualification.
* Proficiency in digital media production for training.
* Familiarity with graphic design and 3D rendering software.

* Maintain professionalism when interacting with customers.
* Undertake other duties within competence as required by the Manager/Team Leader.
