Overview
To contribute as a Senior Construction Manager at AtkinsRéalis by effectively supporting the project team to ensure that welfare arrangements and site safety are implemented and maintained in full compliance with required standards. I aim to drive operational excellence, strengthen safety culture, and support successful project delivery through proactive leadership and strong coordination.
Your role
* Lead and coordinate all construction activities, ensuring seamless collaboration among AtkinsRéalis teams, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives, while aligning with overall project plans and schedules.
* Oversee the implementation of all safety programs and ensure full compliance with local and national regulatory codes, including conducting Critical Risk Reviews, implementing the HOTT process, and participating in safety meetings, briefings, and toolbox talks.
* Establish and manage the construction project organisation, ensuring appropriate staffing with qualified personnel, effective utilisation of resources, and development of structured training programs to support role progression.
* Regularly review construction progress, cost performance, and schedule adherence in coordination with Project Controls and QS teams, ensuring corrective actions are implemented where required.
* Manage field expenditures and services to ensure all construction operations remain within approved budgets, including evaluating change notice proposals to assess their impact on subcontract values and project forecasts.
* Maintain strong relationships with the client and serve as the primary communication link for all site-related activities, while also fostering productive relationships with staff, subcontractors, and internal AtkinsRéalis departments.
* Manage all contractual aspects of the project, including participation in contract and subcontract negotiations, and ensuring the construction log and technical issue processes are implemented in line with the Quality Management Plan.
* Monitor technical compliance of site activities, oversee subcontractor quality assurance performance, coordinate with design and engineering teams to resolve technical issues, and ensure all safety and quality inspections follow AtkinsRéalis standards.
* Ensure all provisions for temporary and permanent site setups are in place, including approvals for temporary works, lifting plans, and permits, prior to commencement of related activities.
* Ensure effective deployment and utilisation of digital tools such as EviFile and InnDex for material recording, work scheduling, progress reporting, and quality control, while chairing weekly construction meetings and supporting resource prioritisation across teams.
About You
* Extensive experience as an IRSE Engineering Manager (Installation) with familiarity in 7.8.110B v3 standards.
* Strong understanding of rail procedures, including Network Rail requirements.
* Proven contract management experience across NEC3 and NEC4 frameworks.
* Demonstrated health & safety competence covering CDM, RAMS, and site assurance.
* Over 10 years' construction management experience on signalling and multi-discipline rail projects.
* Experienced in collaborating with multiple rail discipline interfaces.
* Skilled in implementing and managing Working at Height, Confined Space, cable avoidance, ALO, lift planning, isolations, and man–machine interface controls.
* Holds IOSH/CITB safety qualifications such as SMTS/Managing People Safely.
* Competent in safety-critical roles including PTS, IWA, and COSS.
* Strong communication, leadership, and motivational abilities, with proficiency in Microsoft 365 and comprehensive knowledge of rail industry rules and regulations (e.g., NR/L2/OHS/019, NR/L2/OHS/044).
