Production Support Engineer – Diesel locomotive
Location: Leeds
Salary: £45,000 to £56,000

As the Diesel Loco Production Support Engineer, you’ll be part of a national engineering team supporting the performance, safety, and reliability of the diesel locomotive fleet.
The key responsibilities for the Production Support Engineer role are:
1. Develop and implement engineering solutions to improve fleet performance and reduce maintenance costs.
2. Review and update maintenance specifications to ensure compliance with railway standards.
3. Support the creation and delivery of Asset Management Plans covering fleet safety and reliability.
4. Provide technical guidance to depot engineers and technicians.
5. Conduct root-cause analysis on faults or incidents and recommend corrective actions.
6. Attend engineering meetings and site visits as required to support fleet performance.
7. Provide on-call technical support during incidents affecting the diesel fleet.
8. Identify deficiencies in maintenance practices, materials, or design and propose improvements.
9. Support fleet modification and upgrade projects, ensuring technical standards are maintained.
10. Liaise with stakeholders, including depot teams, suppliers, and contractors, to maintain engineering standards.
11. Maintain accurate records and reports on fleet performance, maintenance, and modifications.
Skills and experience required for the Production Support Engineer are:
12. Demonstrable experience with traction and rolling stock, preferably diesel locomotives.
13. HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
14. Knowledge of safety management systems and railway maintenance standards.
15. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
16. Chartered Engineer status desirable but not essential.
