Innovation Consultant - Graduate Medic/Vet

About Innovia

Innovia Technology has an exciting opportunity for a graduate with a background in Medicine or Veterinary Medicine who is passionate about using their broad biomedical knowledge on varied creative innovation challenges and help us deliver actionable innovation breakthroughs for our global clients. We solve complex innovation challenges and create new opportunities so our clients can outperform competitors and change the world for good. You’ll join our holistic project teams to collaborate and work on the most demanding of challenges. Our clients include Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, LEGO, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Haleon, Shell, IWC Schaffhausen, Kenvue, Kraft Heinz, and The North Face. Clients work with Innovia Technology because our work leads to products and services that customers prefer - reaching markets faster and more efficiently than any realistic alternative.

What you’ll get

At Innovia you won’t join an isolated life sciences department; instead you’ll represent your field by joining collaborative project teams composed of experts in other disciplines - engineering, theoretical physics, plant science, industrial design, chemical biology, business strategy, psychology, and more. This role as an Innovation Consultant bridges the gap between life science in academia and in industry: providing the perfect transition into the commercial application of your skills, supported by training and coaching to grow you into a great consultant. You’ll begin by leveraging your skills and knowledge in biomedicine to tackle complex scientific challenges within industries from food and drink to energy, cosmetics, manufacturing, consumer goods, health or medicines.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll spend most of your time working on the innovation challenges faced by our clients. You’ll typically work on 3-4 projects at once, and the nature of these projects can be remarkably varied, but here is a list of key things you will be doing:

* Bringing your technical skills and creativity to innovation challenges
* Collaborating closely with colleagues from different fields to solve broad and complex problems
* Conducting desk-based research (e.g., literature reviews) and primary research (qualitative and quantitative)
* Creating new ideas, insights, and models, and transferring this thinking between different applications and industries
* Challenging conventional thinking and industry-specific assumptions
* Helping to structure and create presentations for colleagues and clients

What We’re Looking For

It is important that you:

* Hold a degree which includes clinical training in Medicine or Veterinary Medicine, or alternatively hold an advanced degree in another biomedical science field.
* A goodunderstanding of fundamental principlesof life sciences (anatomy, physiology, nutrition, diagnostics, pharmacology, medical imaging, surgical techniques), and the ability to apply them to unfamiliar problems.
* Are keen to work in a dynamic commercial and client focussed environment.
* Have a motivation to work on problems that may include, but are not limited to those in healthcare.
* Have a strong interest in collaborative teamwork and have good communication skills.
* Are comfortable giving your considered opinion on complex questions, and taking part in lively discussions.
* Have excellent timekeeping and task management skills, to be able to take responsibility for your own work and time.
* Have an interest in applying your creativity across a wide range of industries, and the ability to quickly learn about new areas.
* Demonstrate commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive, collaborative working and learning environment.

You will need to maintain confidentiality at all times. This means you won’t be able to share detailed information about your work in articles, social media, or public talks unless this is discussed and agreed with Innovia Technology.

Interview Process

At interview, we focus on thoroughly testing your deep knowledge of your subject fundamentals and how you're able to apply this to unfamiliar real-world situations. Our interview process is designed to test your abilities and explore the limits of your understanding.
