Classroom Assistant (SEN)
Salary: £23,878 - £25,775 per annum
Hours: Monday-Friday (8:30am-3:30pm, with early finish on Thursdays)
Contract: Permanent
About the Role
Staffline Recruitment Ireland is currently recruiting for Classroom Assistants (SEN) on behalf of a leading specialist education provider.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs, including autism and complex learning disabilities, helping them engage in meaningful learning and daily activities.
You will play a key role in promoting independence, supporting well being, and contributing to a safe, structured, and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support
Support students with learning activities as directed by teaching staffAssist with the delivery of the curriculum through structured daily activitiesEncourage independence, engagement, and participationSupport during break times, lunchtime, and off-site activitiesAssist with personal care where requiredRecord student progress, incidents, and daily activitiesBehaviour Support
Follow Personal Learning Plans, Care Plans, and Behaviour Support PlansUse Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and intervention strategiesRespond to challenging behaviours appropriately (training provided)Promote a calm, safe, and supportive learning environmentTeam & School Support
Work collaboratively with teachers and wider staffMaintain effective communication with colleagues and parentsAdapt to working across different classrooms and student needsContribute to a positive, inclusive school cultureProfessional Responsibilities
Follow safeguarding policies and proceduresAttend training and development sessionsMaintain confidentiality and professional boundariesSupport a clean, safe, and engaging learning environmentEssential Criteria
Level 3 qualification (or willingness to be considered based on relevant experience)At least 6 months' experience in an educational, care, or support settingExperience supporting individuals with additional needs or challenging behaviourStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to work in a physically and emotionally demanding roleFlexible and adaptable approachDesirable Criteria
Experience in an SEN or specialist school environmentKnowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)Skills in communication methods such as Makaton or visual supportsBenefits
