RME Technician
The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon maintains vital machinery to keep operations running smoothly. As an RME Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of equipment and workspaces while upholding health and safety best practices to prevent machine downtime.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform proactive and preventative maintenance on a wide range of site equipment.
* Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse.
* Use the latest tools to maximize equipment effectiveness.
* Uphold all health and safety policies and practices.
* Support the development and progression of on-site apprentices.
* Work on continuous improvement projects and roll out best practices across a range of EU sites.
* Handle day‑to‑day material handling equipment and facilities maintenance tasks.
* Liaise with contractors when external expertise is required.
* Work on a range of shifts to support sites around the clock.
* Respond promptly to breakdowns by investigating, solving and implementing solutions.
* Suggest long‑term improvements and best‑practice initiatives.
Day in the Life
RME Technicians are based on site to respond quickly to machine issues. You will carry out planned preventive maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operational, and promptly address breakdowns. Working alongside senior colleagues, you will undertake MHE and facilities maintenance, liaising with contractors when needed, and will maintain coverage across all shifts.
Qualifications
* Served a full Engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject.
* Relevant experience as a qualified engineer.
* Relevant experience working in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
* Advanced proficiency in the local language (verbally and in writing), with experience in condition‑based monitoring.
* Experience working with print and apply machines.
* Experience in fault‑finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems.
* Works on flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
