This position is at our Camborne site in Cornwall, the shift is Monday to Friday, but does require flexibility during holidays and peak season.
Responsibilities
* Lead and organise an Engineering team, apply strategies and deliver efficient workflow within an industrial laundry processing plant.
* Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Site Health and Safety instructions, the SSG Health and Safety manual, and relevant engineering standards.
* Understand compliance responsibilities and maintain records to an auditable standard.
* Carry out regular and accurate assessments on energy measurables using trend data.
* Provide fast response to deviations in working towards CSR goals.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities.
* Collaborate with the Engineering team to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
* Maintain Company disciplines, rules and standards; order replacement parts and consumables while tracking and maintaining budgets.
* Report and investigate incidents, accidents or near misses in accordance with Health and Safety Policies; ensure safe systems of work and best practice procedures at all times.
* Ensure Company assets are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency and manage contractors on site, ensuring safe working practices.
* Maintain excellent communication between Production staff and co-workers; ensure daily handovers of ongoing activities and share information as required.
Qualifications & Skills
* Interpersonal skills to manage and influence people at all levels.
* Minimum of 6 years' experience in a manufacturing/process environment.
* Skilled in both Electrical and Mechanical trades with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical circuits and relevant drawings/schematics.
* Ability to mentor and support team development; develop well-rounded Engineers.
* Self-motivated with decision-making ability and quick reaction to business needs.
* Experience recording PPM and reactive information into a CMMS system; keep CMMS up to date with changes.
* Ability to travel to offsite training facilities and other factories in the group when required.
Desirable Skills/Knowledge
* Experience managing a team of Engineers; previous Industrial Laundry experience.
* Steam systems and chemical water treatment (BG01 or BOAS accreditation); water network and heat recovery systems.
* Electronic component fault finding and testing; BS 7671 IET wiring regulations; Inspection and Testing C&G 2391-52.
* Mentoring apprentices and developing Engineers; PTW risk assessment and contractor control; Legionella control (ACOP L8).
* Small to medium projects, Six Sigma and Capex; IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH.
