As Quality Control Manager you won't be sat behind a desk all day. You'll be on the shop floor, immersed in production...looking at parts, checking tolerances, challenging when something isn't right and being comfortable doing it.
About 70 percent of your time will be on the shopfloor, visible, present...part of the day to day operation. They need a Quality Control Manager who is thick skinned. Someone who understands that when you hold standards, not everyone thanks you for it in the moment. Someone who can stand their ground without turning it into a drama.
As Quality Control Manager you'll report into the QMS Manager but you'll own quality inspection and certifications. Micrometers, verniers and gauges will be second nature to you. You'll read drawings without hesitation and you'll have enough understanding of certs to know whether something genuinely meets the mark. Industry background is not the priority... Engineering experience is, if you understand manufacturing environments and what good looks like, that's what matters here.
Around 30 percent of your time as Quality Control Manager will sit within QMS. Process control and compliance are areas they want to strengthen. They are open about that and they will develop you there looking into training and development for you You do not need to arrive knowing every clause. What they cannot teach is presence and credibility on the shop floor. This could also suit you if you are ready for that step up.
If you are already doing much of this as a Quality Supervisor or Team Leader but not getting the recognition or the title. If you are the one people already turn to for decisions, but you are still waiting for someone to formalise it. This gives you that visibility and authority properly.
As Quality Control Manager you'll be the link between production and the system. Between paperwork and product. Making sure the two actually match.
The salary is £45,000.
Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 4pm.
24 days holiday plus bank holidays with additional days at 5, 7 and 10 years.
Company pension.
If you're a Quality Control Manager who wants influence, recognition and the chance to strengthen standards properly, this could be worth a conversation.
