Job Title: Associate Director, Social Media Content Physical Location: Kent Campus - Kent, OH Salary: $59,961 - $73,182 Basic Function: Manage digital content channels, student employees and special projects in support of Kent State University flagship, colleges, and divisions’ social media channels, to include creating editorial content calendars, planning discussions and special projects, connecting with influencers, analyzing social activities, responding to crisis, and generating required reports. Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Assist in digital marketing strategy and execution, including owned digital and social media marketing. Conceptualize, execute, and refine social media strategies, including creating engaging content, content calendars and ideas for university fan base growth, university fan engagement, contests and promotions for audience-specific goals and connections. Create editorial content calendar for Kent State social media channels and accounts. Use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to enhance digital presence in support of content needs Provide continuous reporting and insights of all social media activities. Serve as primary point of contact for presidential social media activities, including developing and executing social media strategy, conceptualizing, and producing engaging content, content planning and ideas for presidential audience growth, engagement and brand awareness. Provide continuous reporting and insights into all Presidential social media activities. Assist with the management of day-to-day activities on both university and specific college social media platforms and apps, including Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, etc. Interact directly with fans and followers, managing promotions and contests, monitor and report on fan behavior and interest trends. Serve as secondary point of contact for social engagement for University Communications and Marketing (UCM), building relationships with contacts throughout the university and industry counterparts throughout higher education institutions. Act as a digital and social media resource across the university, developing and executing education opportunities regularly. Serve as content team’s liaison with creative, marketing strategy and web teams to provide social media guidance and best practices with internal clients. Supervise and provide functional guidance to student employees serving in positions for UCM. Assist with management of partnerships with technology vendors and external agencies. Assist with individual partners in the placement and tracking of paid social media platform buys. Collaborate with the UCM Creative team to infuse strategy into creative materials and conceptual outcomes. Manage content and updates to social media website within www.kent.edu. Maximize social media monitoring tools, analytics, and trend data to provide usage reports and recommendations for future expansion of social media presence to increase engagement with appropriate audience segments in appropriate social media spaces. Research relevant emerging technologies, social media content platforms and trends to ensure the university remains current and competitive as the social media landscape evolves. Perform related duties as assigned Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: Not applicable. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, or related field. Four years' digital marketing experience, including experience in developing social media strategies, social media based writing, editing and asset creation, and project management. License/Certification: None. Knowledge Of: Social media platforms * Personal computer applications including Photoshop and/or Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe products * Common AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) Skill In: Written, verbal and interpersonal communication * Social media tools and techniques * Project management Basic AI prompts and content planning Ability To: Train users in various formats including face-to-face and web-based sessions Work effectively in a collaborative environment Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with technical staff and users Preferred Qualifications – if applicable: None.
