Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our pub kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and meal preparation, with a keen understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in creating delicious food at our new pub, The Red Lion in Thames Ditton, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.
The Red Lion menu is 90% fresh food and is building a great reputation for quality and standards.
Duties
* Prepare and cook food in accordance with established recipes and menu specifications.
* Oversee the kitchen when our head chef is off, ensuring that all food is prepared safely and efficiently.
* Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations.
* Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary techniques.
* Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as necessary.
* Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
* Handle any customer feedback or concerns regarding food quality or service promptly and professionally.
Experience
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a pub or restaurant or similar environment is essential.
* Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment.
* Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations is required.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* A creative approach to cooking with an eye for detail in presentation.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating leadership qualities when necessary.
