Role Overview
We have vacancies for a secondment, full‑time Deputy Team Leader RN/ODPs with scrub experience for West Wing Children Theatres, Operating Theatre Department (NOTSSCaN Theatres). This theatre complex is a 14‑theatre unit with 3 theatres catering to Paeds General and Orthopaedic theatres. The role requires flexibility and leadership of the scrub teams. Required Experience and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse/ODP
* Hold a degree and evidence of ongoing professional development through NMC/HCPC revalidation
* Minimum of 2 years experience in scrub and radiology (both required)
* Completed the Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor course or Transition to Practice Assessor
* Qualification related to area of practice
* NHS experience
* Post‑graduate qualification related to area of practice
* Excellent communication skills
* Prioritise own workload and that of others appropriately
* Maintain and contribute to standards of practice, conduct and decision‑making in collaboration with team leaders
* Act as a role model, lead by example and reinforce Trust values and behaviours
* Supervise non‑registered and less experienced staff to ensure effective care delivery
* Escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety efficiently
* Previous experience managing clinical incidents and complaints
* Experience in relevant specialty
* Substantive management experience of specific clinical area
* Self‑aware and able to accept constructive criticism
* Resilient under pressure

Clinical Practice Essential Criteria
* Articulate and knowledgeable of skills needed to deliver high standard care in the area of practice

* Document observations, results, decisions and actions effectively in patient notes and communicate them to the multidisciplinary team
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers and all multidisciplinary team members
* Proactively contribute to education of learners and non‑registered and less experienced staff
* Manage, direct and evaluate nursing care for a defined caseload of patients
* Competent to administer intravenous medicines; understanding of professional and current issues related to area of practice
* Keep up to date with professional issues influencing perioperative practice, management, education and research
* Identify own learning needs and maintain professional development by keeping up to date with practice developments
* Lead development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, protocols and guidelines relevant to area of practice
* Question and challenge nursing practice constructively to evaluate and improve standards of patient care
* Provide evidence of leadership within practice and the multidisciplinary team
