About the Role
Complete Classroom Services are seeking a skilled and proactive DT Technician to join a dynamic Design Technology department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting staff and students, ensuring the smooth running of lessons, safe use of equipment, and effective preparation of resources.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
* Prepare, set up, and clear away materials and equipment for DT lessons (including resistant materials, product design, and food where applicable).
* Support teaching staff in delivering practical activities safely and effectively.
* Assist with demonstrations and supervise students’ practical work under teacher guidance.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and machinery in safe working order.
* Monitor stock levels and order consumables within budget.
* Assist in the construction and adaptation of teaching resources, displays, and projects.
Health & Safety
* Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health & Safety regulations.
* Conduct routine safety checks and report hazards or faults promptly.
* Ensure compliance with COSHH for the storage and use of materials.
* Stay up to date with Health & Safety guidance for DT workshops.
General Duties
* Organise and store equipment and materials effectively.
* Support departmental exhibitions, displays, and extra-curricular projects.
* Undertake relevant training to fulfil the role effectively.
* Contribute to the wider life of the school, supporting events and activities as required.
The DT Technician will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and adhere to school policies and staff code of conduct.
Qualifications & Training
Essential:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths.
Desirable:
* Qualification in Design Technology, workshop maintenance, or related field.
* First Aid training.
* Health & Safety training (e.g. COSHH, CLEAPSS).
Experience
Essential:
* Experience working safely in a workshop, school, or practical learning environment.
* Experience using and maintaining tools and equipment.
Desirable:
* Experience supporting teaching and learning in a school setting.
Skills & Knowledge
* Strong practical skills in handling tools, machinery, and materials.
* Awareness of Health & Safety requirements in DT settings.
* Good organisational skills for managing time and resources.
* Competent IT skills for stock control and administration.

* Reliable and punctual with a flexible, proactive approach.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
