The Production Manager (Fire) has overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant production of fire-rated steel glazing screens and doors. The role leads day-to-day production and assembly operations, ensuring all products are manufactured in line with approved fire performance requirements while driving continuous improvement across people and processes.
The role requires a strong technical understanding of manufacturing drawings and close collaboration with the Technical Department and key suppliers. As the business grows, the role will also support the progressive development of in-house manufacturing capability, including fabrication activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Full ownership of day-to-day production operations for fire-rated steel glazing systems.
* Ensure production output meets safety, quality, delivery, cost and fire compliance requirements.
* Plan and manage labour, workflow and resources to meet production schedules and demand.
* Ensure all products are manufactured in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and fire test evidence.
* Maintain close collaboration with the Technical Department to resolve drawing and compliance queries.
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
* Support audits, inspections and traceability requirements associated with fire-rated products.
* Own and continuously improve assembly methods, tooling and work instructions.
* Apply sheet metal fabrication expertise including cutting, welding and folding.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production and assembly operations.
* Lead, motivate and develop manufacturing and assembly teams.
* Champion Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental compliance.
* Act as the primary production interface with Technical, Operations and Senior Leadership.
Person Specification
* Proven experience as a Production Manager or senior production leader in a steel-based manufacturing environment.
* Strong hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication processes.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Experience working closely with technical teams and suppliers.
* Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with fire-rated glazing systems or compliance-critical products.
* Understanding of fire certification and traceability requirements.
* Exposure to powder coating or surface finishing processes.
* Experience contributing to manufacturing capability expansion.
Working Hours
Core operating hours are 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Working time outside of these hours may be required.
