Looking for a new challenge in a supportive and forward-thinking NHS team? We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Speech and Language Therapists to join our friendly, supportive and innovative Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Service across Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.

We are a friendly, supportive and committed team with a strong focus on ongoing service improvement and transformation, making this a particularly exciting time to join us as you will be part of our continuing developments and advancements.

This role offers experience across a variety of settings, including educational settings, clinics and family homes, supporting children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.

As a Band 5 therapist, you will manage a designated caseload with support from senior clinicians and work collaboratively with families, schools and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, child-centred care. The role places an emphasis on evidence-based practice, innovation and collaborative working across the multiple agencies and specialties involved in supporting children effectively.

Main duties of the job

* Deliver assessment, intervention and management for a diverse paediatric caseload
* Work collaboratively with families, schools and multidisciplinary teams
* Develop skills across a range of clinical presentations in speech, language and communication

The role will be varied and offer the opportunity to work within clinic, education and community environments. You will be responsible for assessment and treatment of children with a variety of speech, language and communication difficulties, and hold a delegated clinical caseload.

You will be joining a well-established multidisciplinary team, with a strong commitment to ensuring children receive support to achieve the best outcomes that they can. We are passionate about delivering the very best evidence-based practice, and we want you to bring your own ideas and innovative thinking to our team.

You will receive regular supervision and support from peers and senior clinicians within the team and will participate in the regular in-service training programme. This role provides an excellent development opportunity.

The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy. Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence (role will involve travel to numerous addresses that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means) is required.

Job responsibilities

Newly Qualified Practitioner Support & Preceptorship

We welcome applications from newly qualified therapists and prospective graduates. We offer a comprehensive Multi-Professional Preceptorship Programme for all newly registered practitioners, designed to support your transition from student to autonomous professional.

* Provides structured support, guidance and development opportunities
* Includes regular supervision and protected learning opportunities
* Supports therapists working towards RCSLT Core Goals
* Typically lasts 12 months
* Assigns each newly qualified practitioner a dedicated preceptor to coach, mentor and guide them through regular meetings

We are committed to providing a robust programme of supervision, support and professional development for Newly Qualified Practitioners in line with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) guidance.

Person Specification


Qualification

* HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* Evidence of placement or postgraduate training within paediatric speech and language therapy


Experience and Knowledge

* Evidence of reflective practice from work experience or student placements.
* Evidence of robust knowledge base relevant to role that applies to the management of a range of conditions
* NHS experience through placement and/or employment work
* Knowledge of outcome measures to evaluate therapy


Skills and Attributes

* Ability to present information, written and verbally in a clear and logical manner
* Ability to work as an effective member of multidisciplinary team
* Ability to organise and prioritise
* Ability to use different communication methods and styles
* Evidence of personal development
