Job Description:
NHS Lothian is committed to promoting equality and diversity among its workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. We aim for our workforce to be truly representative, with each employee feeling respected and able to perform at their best.
We support disabled candidates, those with long-term conditions, or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policies and practices.
Applications are welcomed from all sections of society. Candidates must have full GMC Registration, a license to practice, and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. UK-trained candidates should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the interview date. Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week) based at St John’s Hospital. We are advertising two substantive Consultant posts, with subspecialist interests in Head and Neck and/or Laryngology, though other subspecialist interests will also be considered.
If appointed as a Head and Neck specialist, the post will involve contributing to the Head and Neck diagnostic pathway, including neck lump clinics. Experience in innovative management methods is desirable. The roles are as follows:
* Post 1: Involves attendance at the weekly H&N MDT and active treatment of a full range of Head and Neck malignancies. Robotic surgical training/experience is desirable.
* Post 2: Focuses on benign laryngology, developing outpatient services and interventions.
