Location: Leeds, Leeds International Study Centre
Salary: up to £39,605.59 per annum
Leeds International Study Centre and its programmes are provided by Study Group in collaboration with the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University.
You will work with colleagues across the Centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our education strategy, broader scholarship, and aims for an outstanding student experience. You will also contribute directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre. As a tutor, you will contribute to the design, development, and production of teaching, learning, and assessment materials, as well as delivering across a range of modules or within a subject area.
ABOUT THE ROLE
1. Provide academic coordination for designated module(s) in the role of module lead.
2. Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff to contribute to the effective overall management of the programmes and the student lifecycle.
3. Contribute to the design, development, delivery, and updating of modules offered by the centre.
4. Contribute to the delivery and assessment of provision.
5. Prepare module assessments (both formative and summative), mark and provide feedback to students in a timely fashion.
6. Update and maintain the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
7. Work with the centre’s Student & Academic Services team in the delivery of induction, orientation, and registration programmes.
8. Liaise with the Progression, Welfare, and Support team to support students in achieving their progression aims.
9. Contribute to student enrichment activities.
10. Engage in scholarly activity to ensure the delivery of modules is current.
11. Implement quality assurance procedures at module level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of the programme to achieve high standards.
12. Fully use centre systems to log and monitor student attendance.
13. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student engagement.
14. Complete sponsor reports and academic reports for students.
15. Take up opportunities such as VLE development and peer observation activities.
16. Undertake teaching, learning, and assessment observations and associated staff development plans to assure standards within the subject area.
17. Perform any other duties as required by the Head of LSS and Centre Director.
18. Promote health, safety, and wellbeing of students and colleagues, holding personal accountability to avoid actions that could threaten health or safety.
ABOUT YOU
* A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area.
* A Master’s qualification is desirable.
* Candidates holding a PhD will be particularly welcomed.
* Experience of teaching in UK higher or further education, preferably with a teaching qualification and experience working with international students.
