Job Title: Building Surveyor - Social Housing
Location: North London
Contract: Full-time | Contract
Salary: £31 - 41 per hour

We are working on behalf of a leading housing provider in North London who is looking to appoint a proactive and technically skilled Building Surveyor to support the ongoing maintenance, improvement, and compliance of its residential portfolio. This is a key role, with real impact, focused on delivering high-quality, safe homes across the borough.

Role Overview:

This role involves undertaking a range of surveying duties across a diverse portfolio of social housing properties. The successful candidate will manage responsive repairs, disrepair cases, planned works, and void property inspections, ensuring all works meet regulatory, contractual, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out detailed condition surveys, stock assessments, and technical inspections of residential buildings.

Prepare specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation for maintenance and refurbishment projects.

Oversee and manage contractors, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget, and to required standards.

Act as the lead surveyor on disrepair claims, including inspection, reporting, and liaison with legal teams.

Conduct void inspections and prepare necessary scopes of work to bring properties up to letting standard.

Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, health and safety regulations, and landlord responsibilities.

Maintain accurate records and reporting using housing management systems and digital tools.

Candidate Profile:

Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related field.

Membership of RICS, CIOB, or equivalent professional body preferred.

Strong experience in a similar surveying role, ideally within social housing or local authority environments.

Solid understanding of building pathology, disrepair legislation, contract administration, and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).

Excellent stakeholder communication and project management skills.

Proficiency in IT systems including Microsoft Office and surveying software.
