Please note the 4/ pay award stated is due to be reflected in pay from October 4, with any arrears due paid in November 4.

We are currently looking to recruit Band 3 Nursing Assistants to work within the Older Adult inpatient wards, caring for Older Adults from Derby and Derbyshire, diagnosed with Organic and Functional mental illness. There are 3 wards on site, Cubley Court Male, Female and Tissington House.

Please be mindful that the wards provide a -hour, year-round inpatient service.

Main duties of the job

As a valued member of the team, you will deliver high standards of person -centred care showing empathy, patience and understanding at all times.

We work as part of a multi- disciplinary team, and you will work within the Trust Core Care Standards and always promoting independence, recovery, and service user dignity. You would be an active and supportive member of the team.

As a Nursing Assistant you will be actively involved in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of qualified nurses and be accountable for the reporting of the care you give to qualified nursing staff.

We offer ongoing training and development, clinical supervision & managerial supervision, an annual PADR.

12. Are you looking for a new exciting opportunity to work in a team where you can continually develop your skills and knowledge base?
13. As a Nursing Assistant you will be completing daily duties including:
14. Providing care and support for patients who are acutely mentally unwell
15. Spending 1:1 time with patients
16. Escorting patients off the ward
17. Completing levels of observations with patients
18. Engaging patients in therapeutic activities
19. Completing physical observations and general physical check
20. Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team to make changes inpatients' care
21. Supporting patients with their ADLs
22. Managing difficult situations
23. Providing support to other wards across the unit
24. Responding to patients when they are distressed

Person specification

Qualifications/Experience

Essential criteria

25. care certificate completed
26. NVQ 3 Health and Social Care

Desirable criteria

27. Previous experience in Older peoples Care.

Skills

Essential criteria

28. Communication skills - written and verbal - to be assessed via application form and at interview
29. Recent, relevant experience of working within mental health.
30. Understand and demonstrate the Trust values
