Job Description
General Description:
The Grantham Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for effective maintenance, preventative maintenance planning and scheduling, delegating, coordinating, and decision-making to attain desirable production results. They oversee all maintenance items at the Grantham NH Sawmill & Yard. Additional responsibilities include controlling labor and supply costs related to maintenance, maintaining an efficient system for completing PM work orders promptly, and ensuring all procedures meet or exceed company standards through professionalism, team motivation, and performance monitoring.
Responsibilities:
* Communicate with the purchaser and Mill Manager to support cost-effective purchasing and inventory control
* Initiate purchasing of all consumable parts in collaboration with the PM Parts Purchaser
* Develop and implement a Preventive Maintenance program for each area, ensuring it is maintained easily
o Follow the PM program as outlined by the Mill Manager
o Assign and perform electrical and mechanical PMs, coordinating with vendors as needed
o Complete, close, and document PM work orders
* Maintain:
o Sawmill machinery
o Waste and dust collection systems
o All outside yard equipment
o Compressor PM and service
o Dry kilns at Springfield location
o Building needs
* Enforce LOTO and Hot Work policies and conduct departmental training
* Maintain knowledge of procedural manuals, blueprints, and diagrams, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
* Troubleshoot equipment up to 480 volts, including wiring 3-phase motors and VFDs
* Safely troubleshoot and repair electrical breakdowns
* Terminate wiring and components
* Interpret and improve automated system performance parameters at macro/micro levels
* Install electrical, mechanical, and electronic devices
* Repair or replace controls and sensors
* Perform scheduled work including PM inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, replacement, and programming of electrical equipment
* Perform mechanical work as needed
* Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools
* Troubleshoot and replace defective parts
* Adjust clearances and align parts
* Identify trends and causes of production downtime and develop solutions
* Analyze information to choose the best solution
* Travel if required
* Work at least 20% of weekly hours outside of production times when facilities are not operational
* Coordinate with HR, Safety, Training, and other organizational units as needed
* Perform any other duties assigned
Safety:
* Enforce safety policies including PPE, LOTO, hot work permits, forklift safety, fall protection, etc.
* Participate in accident investigations and return-to-work programs
* Enforce safety violations
Qualifications / Requirements:
* Experience with industrial electrical systems up to 480 volts, controls, and instrumentation
* Practical knowledge of VFDs and pneumatics
* Electrical experience in a production or industrial environment
* Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for electrical and mechanical tasks
* Strong troubleshooting skills in a production setting
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to prioritize tasks and follow procedures
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Experience with CMMS systems is preferred
* Knowledge of PLC controls is a plus
