Job Title: Network Test Engineer - Bradford two days per week.
Location: Bradford (Hybrid)
Day rate: Up to £425 per day
Start Date: November / December 2025
Job Type: 3 month contract - with scope to extend long term.
Company Introduction:
We are recruiting for a Network Test Engineer with extensive experience in Metro Ethernet Networks (Layer 2 & Layer 3) & testing tools such as Byteblower / Wireshark to join our global client in the telecommunications sector.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives:
A highly technical, experienced hands-on resource with experience of managing, coordinating, facilitating & executing test plans, defect management and status reporting; primarily for Layer2 & Layer 3 testing work.
* Assistance with test environment design, test strategy and test planning
* Commissioning & installing (kit, software, test environment)
* Configuring
* Monitoring
* Service testing & trouble shooting
* Basic networking
Required Skills/Experience:
* Management, facilitation manual & automation testing :
* Coordinating resources for testing (people, kit, etc.)
* Defect investigation & management
* Documentation (process updates, test plans, test results, config documents etc.)
* Regular status reports as agreed
* Experience with test automation frameworks with experience in scripting languages bash, python etc
* Experience with test tools like Ixia, Byteblower, Wireshark etc
* Professional, self-motivated, self-driven, customer focused, delivery-orientated, flexible with ability & capacity to learn (new vendor kit),
* Layer 2 networking experience, eg LAGs, spanning tree, control frame tunnelling, CoS/QoS, TACACs, SNMP, FTP, SSH, NTP, ACLs, layer 2 device configuration & management, Traffic generators, layer 3 protocols, Cisco IOS, Versa/Cisco/Meraki SDWAN
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:
* MEF certification, Layer 3 network experience, Ixia traffic generator, Cisco IOX, Cisco IOS XR, Ciena SAOS 8.x.x, SAOS 10.x.x
