Overview
This is a new consultant post for a Radiologist with an interest in Musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging. The post holder will work closely with the existing radiology team to support the continuing development of imaging within University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL). The post includes inpatient and ED MSK imaging coverage on a currently 1 in 10 in-hours rota, with the opportunity to join a general ED/IP rota with on-call. The appointment is whole time; modification of job content can be discussed on a personal basis if a candidate is unable to work full-time. The Trust has completed a major refurbishment of MRI and CT scanners to provide the latest technology. The service has strong links to academic and other radiology departments, with opportunities to be involved in research. Successful candidates will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical governance. Responsibilities
* Undertake programmed activities in MSK imaging with opportunities to develop the service in line with local population needs and Trust development plans
* Support imaging in rheumatology, pain and spinal imaging
* Support emergency imaging across UHL
* Supervise junior medical staff
* Review MSK & trauma imaging performed as an emergency, both in-hours and out-of-hours
* Lead or participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings
* Contribute to training of Specialist Registrars on the East Midland Deanery (South) radiology training scheme
* Supervise and train radiographer, sonographers and non-medical staff in current and anticipated roles
* Support and participate in audit, research, teaching and administration
* Take part in the diagnostic on-call rota within UHL and provide weekend radiological support for the Imaging service
* Participate in sarcoma services in the region, including sarcoma MDT involvement and providing an US/US-guided biopsy service
* Desirable: CT-guided intervention (bone biopsy)
Qualifications and Experience
Consultant Radiologist with an interest in MSK imaging; ability to supervise and train staff; willingness to participate in audit, research, teaching and administration; capable of contributing to on-call duties and weekend radiology support; experience in sarcoma services and US/US-guided biopsy is a plus.
