Overview
NHS Lothian – EHSCP Occupational Therapist (Band 5) – Rotational post through Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Astley Ainslie Hospital and Findlay House. This is an exciting time to join the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership as we embark on a new journey developing community rehabilitation services, including our bed‑based rehabilitation services within our community hospitals. We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, hardworking and dynamic intermediate care multi-disciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Our bed‑based intermediate care services are based in Ellens Glen Community Hospital and Findlay Community Hospital. You will work closely with members of the Multi‑Disciplinary Team to contribute to the Complex Geriatric Assessment, rehabilitation and complex discharge planning for frail older people admitted to the hospitals. You will join a supportive, professional environment where multidisciplinary team working is at the centre of our practice and where the contributions of all team members are respected and valued.
Qualifications
This post requires the post holder to have a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the PVG Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team.
We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long‑term conditions or who are neuro‑divergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
Equal Opportunity Statement
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
