Job overview Part-Time Receptionist – Radiology Department (Job share options available) We are looking for a friendly, organised and confident Receptionist to join our Radiology team. This role is part‑time, and we are open to considering one post holder or a job‑share arrangement. The vacancy is 26 hours per week, and due to the needs of the service, the working pattern is fixed as follows: Required Shifts Monday: 4:15pm – 8:00pm Tuesday: 4:15pm – 8:00pm Saturday: 7:30am – 2:00pm Sunday: 7:30am – 2:00pm and 1:30pm – 8:00pm (Alternatively, cover the full day: 7:45am – 8:00pm ) You’ll be the first point of contact for patients and visitors attending Radiology, helping us provide a welcoming and efficient service. Advert In this role, you’ll play a key part in welcoming patients, relatives and members of the public to our Radiology Department. As the first point of contact, you’ll help us deliver an efficient, friendly and supportive appointments service. You’ll also handle a variety of incoming and outgoing telephone calls, using sound judgement to escalate queries where needed. You’ll need confident computer and typing skills, along with a positive and flexible approach to a busy workload. This is a fast‑paced role where priorities can change quickly, so being able to multitask and work independently is essential. Main Duties of the Role Provide a warm, professional welcome to patients, visitors and clinical staff attending Radiology Reception, ensuring everyone is supported with care and courtesy. Manage telephone enquiries in a helpful and confidential manner, taking clear messages, providing accurate information, and escalating calls appropriately. Detailed job description and main responsibilities To check all patient details are correct when they arrive in reception and liaising with other staff or the Radiology Secretaries if necessary. To have effective communication skills with nurses, doctors and other members of the department to provide a quality service for the patients. To ensure that patient confidentiality is observed and adhered to at all times whether in person or by telephone. To ensure that any change of patient details are recorded and update any patient events, ensuring Radiology booking rules are adhered to. Responsible for enquiries relating to Private Patient referrals. Essential to be a good team player and used to working under pressure with well-developed interpersonal skills. Background knowledge of a hospital environment to assist in offering a professional service to all who attend the department.
