You will be working as part of the Stroke Therapy Team, which includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Assistant Practitioners, and a Team Administrator. The team is dedicated to providing outstanding care to stroke survivors.
The successful applicant should be passionate about stroke care, with experience in health and social care, working with patients, and possessing suitable skills and behaviors for the role.
The role involves supporting the assessment and treatment of stroke survivors across both acute and community pathways, assisting with discharge planning, family and carer communication, attending daily/weekly MDT meetings, providing goal-led rehabilitation, and liaising with the wider MDT.
We seek a motivated individual eager to support change implementation and empower patients to achieve their best.
Our Furness Stroke Therapy Team currently offers acute inpatient stroke and community stroke rehabilitation, allowing staff to be involved from admission through discharge and ongoing community rehabilitation. This position is based in the hospital/acute setting and includes working on a Saturday rota. The service is under development and will eventually include Sunday working.
The stroke team values a friendly, flexible, patient-focused, and quality-driven approach. Our goal is to ensure patients receive appropriate treatment in the right location at the right time. Flexibility and creative thinking are essential to establish and develop new care pathways.
Our services operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, along with community healthcare premises such as Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer comprehensive hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides general hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and outpatient services for non-life-threatening conditions.
All three hospitals provide planned care, including outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery, as well as outreach services across Morecambe Bay.
