Job Description:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Controller to provide financial leadership within our Electronic Warfare (EW) Line of Business. The candidate will work directly for the Vice President Finance and support the Sector Vice President and their Integrated Project Teams (IPTs). Leading a small team, this role manages all financial and project reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and relevant management information, along with providing advice and guidance to the IPTs.
The candidate will also ensure compliance with internal and external financial policies and accounting standards. As part of the sector management team, this role is critical for business accounting and financial leadership within the sectors.
Key Responsibility Areas
1. Deliver high-quality management accounts and financial reports to sector VPs & VP Finance during monthly Finance and Quarterly Business Reviews. Manage forecasts, risks & opportunities, and variance analysis for presentation to VP Finance and SVP.
2. Provide objective challenge to VPs and IPTs to control costs and improve profit and working capital management.
3. Review and approve business cases, tenders, and capital investments related to strategic product development and new business opportunities, offering robust challenge and recommendations.
4. Own the financial input for the business plan, including the strategic plan, annual budget, and growth scenarios, working closely with IPTs to develop a robust plan.
5. Implement continual process improvements for efficiency and resource utilization.
6. Lead financial education initiatives for non-finance staff within each Business Area to promote sound financial decision-making.
7. Ensure effective governance and compliance with IFRS, Leonardo directives, and internal policies.
8. Develop the EW finance team through coaching, education, and skills development.
9. Act as deputy for VP Finance EW with full delegated authority when required.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
* Fully qualified accountant (part-qualified considered).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a challenging mindset.
* Experience in project/contract accounting, including IFRS15 revenue recognition.
* Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with SAP is preferred.
* Proactive approach with a focus on high-quality outputs.
* Ability to re-prioritize to meet deadlines.
* Enthusiastic, eager, and committed to the projects and contracts.
Additional Information
This is a full-time role based at our Luton site, with occasional travel to other offices. Flexible working arrangements, including some remote work, are available based on team needs.
