Job Summary
Boughton Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our dynamic, progressive, and supportive practice, working 3 to 4 sessions per week. The chosen candidates will assist in managing a busy and interesting clinical caseload for our patient population.
Responsibilities
* Provide high quality medical care to patients registered with the practice.
* Provide a full range of services in line with the requirements of the GMS/PMS (17c) Contract and Enhanced Services Contracts.
* In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post‑holder will make themselves available for surgery consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, repeat prescription checks, and patient test results.
* Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines.
* On a rotational basis, undertake on‑call/duty doctor roles.
* Refer patients as appropriate and in accordance with local guidelines.
* Provide appropriate health promotion advice to all patients.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health‑care workers.
* Maintain clinical records (manual/electronic) in line with good practice and in accordance with practice procedures, including appropriate coding.
* Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible.
* Prescribe generically in accordance with local and national guidance.
* Ensure good clinical governance is part of patient care and other practice activities.
* Undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP in primary care, GMC guidance or good medical practice.
* Effectively manage long‑term conditions.
* Accept delegated responsibility for specific QOF/IIF target areas.
* Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
* Support the partners in achieving strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
* Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.
* Support the training of medical students from local universities and other clinician disciplines.
* Ensure compliance with the appraisal process and commit to self‑learning along with continuing professional development.
* Prepare and complete the re‑validation process.
Other Responsibilities
* Support the practice staff and respond to requests for advice and assistance from reception, secretarial, and nursing staff.
* Maintain awareness and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines (prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOF assessment).
* Participate in practice audits as requested by Clinical Leads.
* Change agreed working days to cover holiday/sickness to assure business continuity when required.
Person Specification
Knowledge (Essential)
* Can demonstrate a broad base of competencies and skills.
* Excellent knowledge of IT systems, including Microsoft.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of the pressures faced by GPs and healthcare teams.
* Knowledge of own professional accountability and autonomous practice.
* Auditing and research experience.
* Knowledge of the implementation of Care Quality Commission standards.

* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, able to influence and persuade others while articulating a balanced view and constructively questioning information.
* Able to take a consultative approach to work, appropriately involving relevant people.

Experience
Essential
* A good knowledge of and interest in general practice and primary care.
* Proven ability to handle a busy and varied primary care caseload.
* Experience working within primary care.
* Ability to draft cogent, error‑free letters and reports in a timely manner.
Desirable
* Experience conducting audits, including examining clinical notes, interpreting data and feeding back results.
* Experience working with EMIS.
* Proven ability to offer support within a clinical team and share learning points in practice meetings.
Qualifications
* Vocationally trained and accredited GP, preferably with MRCGP.
* Current and full UK driving licence.
* Up to date Level 3 Safeguarding (Children).
* Current registration with the GMC and appropriate representation with a recognised medical defence organisation.
