You will be based at our modern, purpose-built Head Office in the vibrant city centre of Cardiff. Cardiff is an accessible city with strong transport links, and London is only 2 hours away by train.

The role
As a Buyer, you will assist in developing, sourcing, and delivering an on-trend and commercially focused range, whilst driving profit and enhancing the Peacocks brand position. You'll be part of our close-knit Head Office team, ensuring our ranges are commercially developed and delivered in line with our brand vision and strategy.
Responsibilities/Objectives:
* Plan and build a commercially balanced range, achieving margin targets set by the company;
* Drive regular departmental product reviews, ensuring coordination across departments regarding trends, looks, and color palettes;
* Operate an effective and timely product sign-off process, in line with the critical path and planning cycle;
* Take ownership of the critical path, ensuring deadlines are met, raising issues, and communicating and implementing action plans;
* Review and analyze sales data, identify top-performing products/lines, and make data-driven decisions for future lines and recommendations for improvement;
* Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimum products, prices, and contract terms, leveraging supplier expertise to improve range and knowledge;
* Lead meetings at the Director/Head level, ensuring effective communication of key information and completion of actions within set timescales;
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure the successful launch of new product lines, seasonal collections, and other initiatives;
* Work with the merchandising team to monitor and control trade, stock turn, margin targets, and profit levels.
Skills and Experience:
* Experience in a Fashion Retail Buying role with a commercial mindset;
* Deep understanding of fabrics, garment construction, and the buying process, with a strong eye for print and pattern;
* A passion for trends and excelling in driving newness in a fast-paced environment;
* Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers;
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships;
* A proven track record of developing and trading highly commercial fashion ranges that exceed sales and profit targets.
