Do you have engineering experience, specifically in printing machinery? Are you fully conversant with intricate mechanical systems and schematics? Are you able to demonstrate your ability to comprehend Piping and Instrumental diagrams (P&IDs) as well as basic electrical diagrams?
We are looking for a mechanical print engineer to join our Manufacturing Transformation team within our Currency division. In this role, you will be responsible for leading our transformation activities which includes, but is not limited to, machinery removal and installation, machinery refurbishment and engineering training activities. The successful role holder will also be responsible for project managing some of these activities.
Alongside this, you will lead on technical development and continuous improvement strategies/projects and support production requirements to improve equipment efficiencies.
Please note that this role requires extensive travel to our sites, both within the UK and internationally, as well as to our customers and suppliers in order to support various transformation activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead transformation activities consisting of, but not limited to, machinery removal and installation and machinery refurbishment.
* Assist with machinery and engineering issues across De La Rue sites, providing both remote and onsite support. Responding to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to ensure continuity of production, report findings and record solutions.
* Management of project plans and day-to-day work onsite of both De La Rue employees and contractors/suppliers.
* To project manage the process of contractor services, from inception to quote to commissioning of the services working closely with the local site at all time.
* To lead on technical development and continuous improvement strategies/projects and support production requirements to improve equipment efficiencies.
* To support on technical machine development projects for delivery of banknote design changes.
* Develop and deliver in house training specifications to wider Engineering team to share expert process knowledge.
* To support the introduction of new equipment including training, installation, commissioning, customer handover and maintenance.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* HNC level of equivalent in a Mechanical discipline
* Engineering experience in printing machinery
* Experience of machinery removals and installations with associated lifting equipment (desirable)
* Experience and working knowledge of using an engineering management system
* Fully conversant with intricate, mechanical systems and schematics
* Ability to comprehend P&IDs and basic electrical diagrams
* Knowledge of undertaking risk assessments and completing the associated paperwork
* Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as 5S, SMED, Lean and Six Sigma (desirable)
* IT literate, fully conversant with MS Office. CAD an advantage.
* Self-motivated and, following initial training, able to work safely and unsupervised as a mechanical engineer.
* High level of Autonomy, Flexibility and Initiative required.
