KSS Training Programme Director for Psychotherapy

An outstanding individual is sought to fulfill the role of Training Programme Director for Psychotherapy for KSS.

This is a 0.5 PA Training Programme Director vacancy.

The role involves working with and supporting the Head of School in leading various functions aligned with the NHSEngland mandate.

The Training Programme Director is professionally and managerially accountable to the Head of School. The role focuses on improving learner supervision, assessment, and experience, engaging faculty, and ensuring effective educational outcomes now and in the future. It also involves workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.

To support the Postgraduate Dean, the Training Programme Director will work across health and social care sectors within a team, ensuring education reflects changing service models. This aims to deliver an integrated workforce from diverse professional backgrounds.


Main duties of the job

The Programme Director will ensure compliance with national standards and local guidelines. Responsibilities include:

* Overseeing the Psychotherapy Regional Training Programme
* Addressing specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns
* Recruitment to training posts and programmes
* Managing postgraduate programmes, including assessments, progression, rotations, support, remediation, OOP management, careers support, and related areas.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Psychotherapy training in the region, possessing strong leadership and communication skills, and able to work effectively within a multi-professional team.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend at least 40% of their time working in person.

Qualifications

* Fellowship of a relevant College/Faculty or professional body
* Participation in educational development courses
* Qualifications such as PG Cert, diploma, or MSc in Medical Education

* Experience working with learners or doctors in training

* Knowledge of relevant Colleges, professional bodies, and NHS organizations
* Understanding workforce transformation initiatives
* Recent experience in recruitment, selection, and E&D
* Active engagement with appraisal processes
* Knowledge of NHS structures, processes, and funding streams
* For doctors, a valid license to practice
* Previous healthcare education leadership roles
* Awareness of current health, social care, and education policies

Salary will be in line with TPD sessional payments, depending on experience.
