About The Role
Join the Balfour Beatty Highways team as a Senior Site Ecologist on the M3 Junction 9 project and be part of our legacy.
Reporting to the Balfour Beatty Ecology Technical Specialist and Project Leads, the Senior Site Ecologist will perform the following key activities.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the project Environmental Manager
* Lead on delivery of project ecological requirements
* Develop and implement ecological management plans
* Build and maintain relationships with regulators, clients, design teams and internal teams
* Ensure site compliance with ecological legislation and coach construction teams in applying controls and mitigations in a pragmatic, cost‑effective way
* Ensure the company environmental management system is maintained in line with changing standards and legislation and liaise with senior team lead on changes required
* Lead investigations and report on ecological incidents
* Provide pragmatic advice and site support to operational teams on ecological requirements
Essential Qualifications
* Excellent knowledge of ecological management and mitigation
* Excellent understanding of ecological legislation for development
* Good level of commercial awareness
* Full driver’s licence and flexibility to travel
* Good understanding of environmental management for construction sites
* Good understanding of the utilities, construction and engineering operating environment
* Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
* Excellent communication skills
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience of working on large‑scale infrastructure construction projects
* Educated to degree or Masters level in Ecology or related subject
* At least one protected species survey licence, preferably hazel dormouse or bat level 1 or 2
* Full CIEEM Membership
