Best Interest Assessor (BIA)

£225 - £300 per Assessment
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Best Interest Assessor (BIA) to undertake weekly DoLS assessments, ensuring that all assessments are delivered to a high professional standard and within statutory timescales. You will play a vital role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of individuals who may lack the capacity to consent to their care arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake Best Interest Assessments in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
* Produce clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, care providers, families and advocates.
* Maintain professional standards and ensure all practice remains compliant with legal and local authority requirements.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of DoLS processes.
Essential Requirements:
* Be a registered social worker (SWE or equivalent), registered nurse (NMC or equivalent), occupational therapist (HCPC or equivalent), or chartered psychologist.
* Not be suspended or subject to conditions of practice on the relevant professional register.
* Have a minimum of two years’ post-registration experience in one of the qualifying professions.
* Be able to provide two professional references, including one specifically relating to work as a Best Interest Assessor.
* Have successfully completed an approved university BIA qualification and have at least two years’ experience completing DoLS assessments.
* Have undertaken a minimum of 12 hours of BIA-relevant continuous professional development (CPD) in each 12-month period of practice.
* Be able to provide evidence of a current Enhanced DBS check.
