Overview
We are recruiting experienced and passionate SEN Teachers to work across specialist inclusive learning centres, alternative provisions, and SEN schools throughout West Yorkshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for teachers who are confident working with pupils with complex needs, including SEMH, autism, PMLD, and communication or physical needs.
Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver, and adapt lessons to meet the needs of pupils with a wide range of abilities and learning profiles.
* Lead a team of SEN Teaching Assistants and HLTAs, ensuring EHCP targets are met.
* Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment where pupils feel safe and can succeed.
* Support with moving & handling and personal care where required.
* Use effective communication strategies, such as Makaton, PECS, visual timetables, and assistive technology.
* Confidently manage behaviour using de-escalation techniques and Team Teach approaches (training desirable).
Qualifications
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) - essential.
* SEN teaching experience in a specialist setting, alternative provision, or inclusive school.
* Confidence teaching pupils with SEMH, PMLD, autism, and complex needs.
* Strong differentiation, communication, and behaviour management skills.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (child and/or child & adult workforce)
* Training in Team Teach, Moving & Handling, Makaton, or PECS highly desirable.
