This is a Mott MacDonald Bentley role, employed by Mott MacDonald. The joint venture combines JN Bentley’s contracting expertise with Mott MacDonald’s design capabilities to deliver integrated design and build services.
Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer. You will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities, primarily in the UK water market, providing feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You will shape mechanical functions throughout project lifecycles from concept design to commissioning.
Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects through outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover, including P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, defining safe access and lifting arrangements, above-ground pipework layouts, etc.
* Coordinate with the project team comprising Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process designers and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by framework specifications.
* Work closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
* Positively engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to supporting them in achieving their aims.
* Support the development of the mechanical engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skill set and identifying the correct resource for the projects.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
* Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
* Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
* Methodical approach to problem solving.
* A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.

About Mott MacDonald Bentley
Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture established in 1999 between JN Bentley and Mott MacDonald. It offers fully integrated design and build services, combining JN Bentley’s contracting expertise with Mott MacDonald’s design specialisms. This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
