Chemical Propulsion Systems Engineer

We are looking for an experienced chemical propulsion engineer to join our propulsion centre of excellence at Harwell, UK. The role reports to the Propulsion Systems Engineering Manager and involves system level design, integration and support for our satellite propulsion subsystems.
Primary Responsibilities
* Support projects and team members across the propulsion team.
* Lead propulsion subsystem design for Phase A/B/C/D/E of TAS satellite product line.
* Serve as the technical point of contact for propulsion subsystem, interfacing with customers, PMO, AIT, procurement and other subsystem experts.
* Interpret mission requirements and develop the baseline Technical Requirements Document (TRD).
* Provide technical support for propulsion trade‑offs and optimisation of satellite and mission design.
* Prepare design justification documents for major design reviews (PDR, CDR, MRR, etc.).
* Review and consolidate technical documentation throughout the project life cycle.
* Establish integration and test plans and develop analysis tools in EcosimPro, Excel, MATLAB and Python.
* Conduct performance analyses for non‑conformance review boards.
* Prepare and update subsystem analysis reports during cycle milestones.
* Apply systems engineering knowledge to achieve project outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
* Manage requirement traceability and support IVVQ activities.
* Report technical progress to project team and TAS management.
* Contribute to future propulsion developments and continuous improvement.
* Assist with equipment procurement and oversee propulsion module manufacture and AIT activities.
* Resolve anomalies or non‑conformances at equipment or subsystem level and report status to customers.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Degree in a space engineering discipline (e.g., engineering, physics).
* Significant experience in space engineering, particularly propulsion.
* Desirable: Design and development experience of mono‑ or bi‑propellant thrusters using hydrazine; system/subsystem level work with such engines.
* Desirable: Knowledge of construction, operation and maintenance of PPU and related electrical suppliers.
