About the business unit
The Water Consultancy Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to water and wastewater challenges, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work. The work we do is at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for the future and protecting our environment. Our multi-disciplinary teams provide a variety of services throughout the full project lifecycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies, through outline and detailed design, to construction support and site supervision.

Overview of role
As the Engineering Project Manager, the successful candidate will work with and manage a multidisciplinary team of technical specialists, delivering projects in close partnership with clients and contractors. You will build strong relationships to enhance the company’s reputation and help secure further work. Your role will involve leading the design of innovative and sustainable solutions to address leakage challenges, clean water provision, and sewage disposal across water networks. Some projects are emergency and reactive in nature, requiring you to lead fast-paced design work while managing change and impacts on wider programs. You will coordinate project teams throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring business management system compliance, technical quality assurance, and managing program and costs. You will work closely with contractors, often on-site, responding to queries and changes. You will represent the company in meetings and supervise junior staff, providing technical and commercial guidance to support their development.

Candidate specification
We seek a Chartered (or Incorporated) Civil Engineer, or Senior Engineer / Project Manager with strong UK clean/potable water and/or wastewater infrastructure experience, demonstrating:
* Experience in clean/potable water pipeline design and/or wastewater network and infrastructure design
* A solid understanding of hydraulic engineering principles
* Experience working in multidisciplinary water projects with environmental, geotechnical, structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers
* Proven project management skills, managing complex projects proactively in a multidisciplinary environment
* Good understanding of designers’ responsibilities under CDM regulations
* Strong collaboration and communication skills for technical discussions and reports with colleagues, clients, and non-technical staff
* A commitment to professional development and knowledge of emerging technical solutions
