HiQ Tyres & Autocare has an exciting new opportunity for a Vehicle / MOT Tester Technician to join the team in our Northampton Centre. The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis, Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm, with a half‑day finish on Saturday. Salary will be based on experience.
What you will be doing as a MOT Tester Technician
* Work on all makes and models of vehicles
* Perform diagnostics, servicing, and repairs
* Handle brakes, tyres, and wheel alignment
* Inspect vehicle components, including brakes, lights, steering, and exhaust systems
* Conduct MOT tests on various types of vehicles, ensuring compliance with legal requirements
* Use hand tools and power tools effectively to perform necessary repairs or adjustments
* Document test results accurately and provide feedback to vehicle owners regarding any issues found
* Stay updated on changes in MOT regulations and testing procedures
* Always maintain health and safety standards, working within company guidelines and safe working practices
* Complete job cards, maintenance records, and associated paperwork to a high standard
* Carry out any additional duties (within reason) for the efficient running of the store
* Perform administration duties as required within the store
* Assist in carrying out regular stock checks in accordance with company policy
What you will need
* Experience within a fast‑fit car centre or a recognised vehicle franchise dealership
* Strong mechanical knowledge with hands‑on experience using hand tools and power tools
* A valid MOT Tester licence is essential
* Vehicle technician qualification and relevant experience
* Must have a full driver’s licence with no more than 9 points
