Job Title: Head of Humanities and PSHE
Location: The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3SB
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | Monday 8:15am - 4:30pm, Tuesday - Friday 8:15am - 3:45pm
Salary: £49,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: June 2026

About the Role
The Head of Humanities and PSHE plays a pivotal role in shaping a school’s curriculum to ensure students develop a deep understanding of society, culture, and personal wellbeing. They lead the planning and delivery of subjects such as history, geography, religious studies, and personal, social, health, and economic education, ensuring content is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with national standards. This role involves supporting and managing staff, monitoring teaching quality, and using data to drive improvement in student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people;
Work in accordance with professional practice, statutory and legal requirements and the policies of The Wenlock School;
Take on specific tasks related to the day to day administration and organisation of the school;
Take responsibility for specific areas of work which will be reviewed annually then negotiated and agreed within the performance management cycle and school improvement process;
Take on any additional responsibilities, which might from time to time be determined;
Support all staff in achieving the priorities and targets of the school improvement plan and monitor the progress of those which relate to Humanities;
Ensure that parent/carers are well informed about the curriculum, targets, pupil’s progress and attainment in Humanities across the whole school
About You
UK QTS or equivalent
Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Humanities and PSHE
The ability to inspire, engage, and motivate learners of all abilities
A commitment to raising achievement and creating meaningful learning experiences
Requirements
