HSBC UK Leveraged Finance ("LF") is seeking an experienced individual to join as a Relationship Director.
HSBC UK Leveraged Finance is a national business with approximately 100 colleagues across 16 offices, covering over 350 clients and a diverse range of Private Equity ("PE") relationships. The business is a market leader with four key areas of expertise: Origination, Execution, Financial Sponsor Coverage, and Client Coverage. The customer base varies in size from approximately £100m to over £2bn in turnover. The team is sector-agnostic, primarily working with PE-owned companies. Lending to support PE firms with Leveraged Buyouts involves complex financial modeling, structuring, and downside sensitivities.

Role Purpose
The Relationship Director will manage a portfolio of dynamic, fast-growing companies under PE ownership, supporting their complex business needs with tailored solutions, while ensuring we treat our customers fairly.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing a portfolio of fast-paced Private Equity-backed clients with complex structures.
* Conducting credit reviews, including credit analysis and structuring facilities, with a focus on credit risk management.
* Tracking clients’ financial performance to ensure compliance with banking facilities.
* Leading client meetings, developing and strengthening customer relationships, and identifying client needs.
* Supporting transaction execution as part of the wider deal team, often within tight timeframes, ensuring compliance with bank procedures.
* Representing Leveraged Finance at external events and in the marketplace.
* Contributing to strategic initiatives to maintain HSBC’s reputation as a leading employer in Leveraged Finance.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience in Leveraged Finance or managing complex clients at Relationship Director or Senior Associate level, seeking further challenge.
* Ability to influence and build positive relationships with clients, introducers, and colleagues.
* Experience managing and delivering complex, sometimes international, relationships.
* Strong business acumen, including understanding economic, cultural, procedural, and regulatory issues.
* Skilled in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information.
* Excellent credit assessment skills, especially for structured, international facilities.
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
* Organized, able to prioritize tasks, and handle unexpected issues effectively.
* Experience supporting and mentoring others is advantageous.
The role is based in Reading. It is a hybrid position requiring travel to the office and client locations nearby.
