Job Description The Vacancy
Job Purpose:
This is a key position, responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across multiple site locations. You will be the first point of contact for all service and maintenance tasks at your assigned sites. The role involves maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment in customer locations and assisting with HVAC equipment containing refrigeration circuits. Our engineering teams provide 24-hour service coverage throughout the year, including participation in standby rota procedures.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Prioritize maintenance and repair work to meet specified timescales and response times.
2. Identify non-repairable faults promptly, advise the Line Manager, and recommend suitable replacements.
3. Ensure PPM schedules are completed within agreed timelines and all paperwork is accurately filled out according to procedures.
4. Maintain all technical and compliance documentation up to date.
5. Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota and communicate cover arrangements as needed.
6. Be aware of relevant regulations and codes of practice.
7. Order and fit parts or components following company procedures.
8. Notify the helpdesk of procedural task conditions upon work completion.
9. Inform GSMs of repair, maintenance, and installation issues affecting store operations and foster good relationships with GSMs.
10. Respond promptly to service requests from the Helpdesk, assess requirements, and carry out necessary repairs.
11. Conduct surveys and complete reports as required by the refrigeration supervisor/RFM.
12. Complete all work to high standards efficiently and cost-effectively, complying with health and safety policies.
13. Complete tasks within designated timeframes to the satisfaction of the company and clients.
14. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including report writing and record keeping.
15. Attend training to stay current with technical and business developments and ensure mandatory online training modules are completed.
16. Comply with health and safety legislation and company policies at all times.
17. Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain quality standards.
18. Represent the company professionally and develop good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
19. Follow any other reasonable instructions from management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Essential:
* Suitable Maths & English qualifications
* Time Served Apprenticeship
* NVQ/C&G Refrigeration Based Qualification
* Approved Training Program
* Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate
* Skill Card
* Refrigeration, Electrical, Air Conditioning & Mechanical knowledge
* Equipment Diagnostic Skills
* Equipment Repair Skills
* Good communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to work at heights
* Competent in the use of Access Equipment
* Current Full driving license
* Availability for Out of Hours Working
Desirable:
* GCSE
* Previous experience post apprenticeship
* City or other accredited future legislation courses
* BS7671 (IEE 16/17th)
* Experience in Commercial/Supermarket environments
* Machine Overhaul Skills
* Electrical & Engineering background
* BSEN 378 (BS4434)
