Offer description

Orby Vets, Orby, Lincolnshire, East Midlands

4-day week, 8:30am–6:30pm, no Saturdays, no Bank Holidays, no out-of-hours

Orby Vets are currently looking for a Lead Vet Surgeon to develop and nurture our team. As lead vet, you will work alongside the Director of Practice and Practice Manager to make clinical decisions within the practice, have a knowledge and understanding of the P&L, and help promote and follow the care frameworks in clinic.

Your role will involve a mixture of consult days and surgery days, enabling you to build relationships with our loyal clients and patients and provide a personal touch to follow a case through. We have a varied caseload, with the ability to work up cases in house.

About Orby Vets

Orby Vets was established almost 40 years ago and has grown to the vets we now know and love, with an excellent reputation for putting the patient and client first.

We have state‑of‑the‑art surgical facilities, a dedicated op room and prep room, new ultrasound equipment, radiography, and planning for future dental radiography. We are an RCVS accredited practice – core standards, Vet GDP and RVN training practice.

Work/Life Balance

Our local OOH hub takes all evening and weekend work, including bank holiday work, so there are no weekends to work, providing a happy work‑life balance. Our opening hours are 8.30am‑6.30pm, with consulting hours 9am‑5.30pm, leaving time for phone calls and repeat prescriptions.

We are ideally looking for a full‑time vet working 40 hours a week across 4 days. However, we can be flexible and are happy to discuss other options that work for you.

Our Team

We are a small, friendly team consisting of one part‑time experienced vet, 3 RVN’s, and 2 SVN’s soon to qualify. We also have 3 members of our client care team, one of whom is a dual‑role ACA, and a practice manager.

All support staff are highly experienced and have a great knowledge of the practice and our clients. Our 3 RVN’s and one client‑care team member have worked at the practice for over 10 years, with other team members at 4‑5 years. Thus, most staff are long‑standing members.

Location

The area offers coastal and rural living, family‑friendly seaside towns, award‑winning Blue Flag beaches, and wildlife‑rich nature reserves. Charming villages and market towns nearby, including Horncastle just 25 minutes from the practice, and Lincoln only a 45‑minute drive away.

Lincolnshire benefits from an excellent education system, with 15 selective grammar schools, making it ideal for families looking to relocate.
