Behaviour Mentor Location: York, North Yorkshire Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only Salary: £1950 – £2491 per month GSL Education is looking for a dedicated and skilled Behaviour Mentor to work full-time within a specialist SEMH provision in York. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children and young people to manage their emotions, develop positive behaviours, and re-engage with learning. About the Setting The provision supports pupils aged 5–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including those with Autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, or additional learning needs. With small class sizes and a strong pastoral focus, staff work collaboratively to provide a structured, nurturing environment where pupils can build confidence, resilience, and achieve both academic and personal success. The Role As a Behaviour Mentor, you will: Support pupils in managing emotions and developing positive behaviours Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques Build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils to promote engagement Work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver a safe and structured learning environment Assist with reintegration plans and personal development goals Monitor and record behaviour and progress, reporting to the relevant staff We Are Looking For Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or SEN needs Knowledge of behaviour management, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed approaches A calm, patient, consistent and resilient approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils Full-time availability Why Work with GSL Education?
