Job overview ENT Specialist nurse The post holder will lead and deliver high-quality, nurse-led microsuction clinics within our ENT Department, working autonomously across both hospital sites and managing an independent caseload. They will provide expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for patients presenting with both acute and chronic ear conditions. In this advanced clinical role, you will undertake microsuction and other ENT procedures, carry out holistic, patient-centred assessments, formulate evidence-based management plans, and ensure safe, effective care in line with national and local clinical guidelines. You will be responsible for recognising and escalating red-flag symptoms, coordinating care with the wider multidisciplinary team, and supporting patients with education, self-management advice, and follow-up planning. Additionally, they will be required to maintain and develop further theoretical knowledge and physical examination skills. This role requires excellent clinical judgement, strong communication skills, and the confidence to run independent clinics, contributing to high standards of ENT care and improved patient access within the service. Advert 1. Accountable for the quality of care delivered within the ward or department by the team. 2. Works collaboratively and co-operatively with others to develop services provided for patients within ENT department. 3. Ensure patient records are maintained and that documentation reflects care provided in line with the trust standards for record keeping. 4. Involve patients, carers and relatives in the planning and delivery of services within the ward/ department area. 5. Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met. 6. Responsible for ensuring the team address ongoing healthcare needs. 7. Recognise and respond appropriately to pre and post operative situations ensure all emergency equipment is fit for purpose and ready to use. 8. Provide advice and support to all staff working in the department. Promote and encourage the use of evidenced based care, ensuring patient care is monitored and evaluated, incorporating appropriate clinical improvement where required. Act as a professional leader and role model in all aspects of work. 9. Communicate effectively with patience, carers, colleagues and outside agencies on a range of highly complex matters with tact and diplomacy where the information may be highly sensitive or contentious, overcoming barriers to communication as they arise.
